That’s us cyclists.
It’s called a ‘looked-but-failed-to-see-error’ and it’s the biggest danger to adult cyclists, by far. Anticipating ‘looked-but-failed-to-see errors’ is the best thing you can do for your own safety while riding a bike, by far.
Up to 93% of motorists say it is sometimes hard to see cyclists while driving, according to a survey of nearly 18,000 drivers.
More than half (55%) are often “surprised when a cyclist appears from nowhere”, the AA/Populus survey said.
Drivers in London were the most likely to look out for pedal cyclists, while drivers in Wales and Northern Ireland were least likely to do so.
The survey coincides with a national AA bike awareness campaign.
Initially, about one million free stickers will be distributed to drivers as a reminder to do a “double take” in their mirrors for cycles and motorcycles in their blind spots.

Capt. Jack Danilecki of the Boston police, former commander of the tactical bicycle unit, said that five cyclists were killed in Boston last year. Police are taking an initial step to address the problem by issuing reminders — in the form of $20 tickets — to cyclists who run red lights and stop signs that they are legally bound to obey the rules of the road.

Drivers in Adelaide, according to a study of police reports there:
T-intersections were the most dangerous locations for crashes, followed by straight roads, and signalled intersections.
Drivers were at fault in 79 per cent of crashes and cyclists 21 per cent.
Will this knowledge finally spark the crackdown on scofflaw cyclists that we so desperately need to finally cease any and all terrorizing of little old ladies by these unabashed two-wheeled hellions? Let us pray.
